About HarvardWestlakePrep
Harvard-Westlake wants to know your child. We help them show it.
HarvardWestlakePrep is EduAvenues' program for Los Angeles families applying to Harvard-Westlake: focused lessons, honest instructor feedback on the Student Questionnaire, and interview practice.
Here's what you're up against.
Picture your child at the kitchen table with the Student Questionnaire open: short questions about who they are and what they love, and a cursor that will not move. A few days later comes the interview, with an adult they have never met.
Around that sit the ISEE, teacher recommendations, and deadlines that arrive fast. The advice online is confident and rarely specific to Harvard-Westlake, and it is hard to know whether the answers sound like your child or like everyone else.
None of that is your fault, and none of it means your child is not ready. It means they deserve clear guidance and honest notes on their own writing, from people who know how selective admissions works.
What Harvard-Westlake publishes
- Applicants complete a Student Questionnaire of short-answer questions about themselves and their interests.
- The Student Questionnaire responses are due at least two days before the applicant's interview.
- All applicants for fall 2027 entry must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).
- 7th and 9th grade applicants who submit the Application Form by November 13, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PT are guaranteed an interview invitation.
- Harvard-Westlake does not recommend taking the ISEE more than once and does not recommend tutoring or other special preparation.

We went through this. That's why we built it.
Growing up in Fairfax County, I applied to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, and my parents signed me up for a prep program. The instructor had never set foot inside TJ. There were 30 students in a single classroom, almost no feedback on our writing, and templates that had nothing to do with the real application. On test day, we realized we had been preparing for something else.
My friend Vishnu was right there with me, in the same classroom, with the same feeling that families deserved something better. We talked about it all through high school and into college. Vishnu passed away far too young, but his conviction never left me. EduAvenues carries his belief forward: if you are going to do this, do it right, and do it for the families who need it most.
So we built what should have existed.
After UVA's McIntire School of Commerce and five years in financial services, including time at Goldman Sachs and at Evergreen by Alpine Investors in private equity, I walked away because this mattered more. I also served on the Board of Directors of the TJHSST Partnership (Endowment) Fund. This isn't just work for me. It's personal.
Harvard-Westlake families deserve that same honesty. Short answers should sound like one particular child: specific, curious, and their own. Our instructors give notes on your child's Student Questionnaire answers and help them practice the interview so it feels like a conversation. Harvard-Westlake does not recommend tutoring for the ISEE, and we respect that.
Today our instructors include graduates of schools like Harvard, Stanford, Cornell, Columbia, and UVA, and our team has spent more than a decade helping families through selective admissions. Meet the EduAvenues instructors.
And we built it to fit into your family's life. Lessons are online and self-paced. Prep should work around school, sports, music, and family dinners, not replace them.

Then and now
What we actually changed.
Prep taught by people who had never studied the school's application.
Lessons built from Harvard-Westlake's own published requirements, last checked October 6, 2026.
Thirty students in a room and almost no feedback on writing.
Instructor feedback on your Harvard-Westlake Student Questionnaire answers, with line-by-line notes, usually within 7 business days.
Templates that made every essay sound the same.
Notes that keep your student's own voice and push for real, specific stories.
Rigid class schedules that took over weekends.
Online and self-paced, so prep fits around school, activities, and family time.
